This is the time of year when everybody wants something big and beautiful. I made this wreath for a client’s front entrance and believe it or not she lives alone and is in her 80’s. She told me seeing a seasonal wreath in her hallway makes her feel happy when she comes home. That same day, I made the big white arrangement for Hollywood ledgends Fay and Frank Mancusos’ 60th wedding anniversary. Roses, hydrangeas, orchid and diamonds of course-
This is what the beginning of a painting looks like for me. I never draw on the panel, instead I block in the forms and lay the detail over a dark color- I paint the background and foreground towards the end.
I have a new appreciation for these flowers. All by themselves, they are like my LA version of snow.
My favorite places to travel-tropical. I love bright colors and rich thickets of jungle plants. I think of my trip to Bali often, and I was there 14 years ago!
