My obsession with the natural world began early in my life. I grew up on the California Coast, in a small residential neighborhood were we had flowers, herbs and vegetables instead of a front lawn. I would spend hours playing in the garden exploring the landscape. As I got older I began to look at what our neighbors were growing in their yards. It was not long before I began picking flowers from the neighbors and arranging them in vases. When I turned 16, my first official job, aside from babysitting, was at a flower shop. Then I discovered a love for art making. I graduated from one of the most prestigious art schools in the US, Rhode Island School of Design, where I clearly defined myself as an artist.  I have travelled all over the world gathering ideas and exploring cultures in order to add dimension to myself and the work I make.  I possess an intense desire to work in the natural world whether it is painting, making flower arrangements or working on living installations in people’s homes.  You can see more of my work at: http://marisamurrow.com
