Art of Thank You

When I began planning and hosting alumni events for RISD/LA 5 years ago, I just wanted to bring like minded people together and build community here in Los Angeles. My cohort, Liz Lanphear and I have hosted lectures at the Hammer Museum, private tours of the Getty Center, LACE and the Haas Brothers studio just to name a few. Yesterday, my friend and RISD Trustee, Erica Di Bona lectured at Beyond Baroque about her specialty, Thank you notes. She shared with us how to write a note for a gift you don’t really like, such as the striped tights her Father picked up at Costco. The key to writing a great thank you note: tell a little story to bring the reader into what you have to say. Finish with thank you- As Erica claims, “Life needs more thank yous”!  Check out her exciting website here-

Palette To Palate-

I am thrilled to have had the opportunity to exhibit a series of recent paintings at the Laguna Art Museum’s annual event, Palette to Palate. Each artist selected the dining table, chairs and table decor for his/her own table. Since my work in the exhibition was floral themed, I decided to create one large, continuous centerpiece and give the patrons sitting at my table a small oil painting as their favor.  The food, prepared by the Montage’s Executive chef, Craig Strong was an enchanting explosion of flavor and color that had us all craving more. What an amazing experience! This event is not to be missed-
